Mr.Relatable

I've seen ur sights
I've heard your sounds
I've thought your thoughts
I've been there before

Physically maybe not
but a connection is there,
i've felt your sorrows
Mr. Relatable is here

I've dreamed ur same dreams
been told the same No's
i've seen the same things
just know you're not alone

Many wish someone was there
Then I come along...
How you doing, nice to meet you
i've seen you before...

First to smile, Last to judge
Spirit X-Ray vision,
See's through the flesh but feels the heart...
Stranger LISTEN you are loved

Short,dark, bald, tall
or even a little pudge
words exchangeable but
concept irreplaceable

You are not alone,

Sincerely,

Mr. Relatable

They Say....

So I'm going to ask the million dollar question that I'm sure everyone has been thinking for ever... "Who the Hell is THEY....?" LOL

I saw this commercial and I LOVED it. It clearly depicts exactly who "THEY" really is. check it out:
Truth be told, one's Number one fan is sometimes his worst enemy. Instead of expressing admiration, the envious one makes every attempt to demote what they see as greatness. Not boldly of course... But simply by taking the easy way out.....

"THEY SAY" - A COWARDLY WAY TO DIRECT A PERSONAL SENTIMENT WITHOUT TAKING CREDIT FOR THE STATEMENT. THE PERSONAL THOUGHT IS SIMPLY ACCREDITED TO..... "THEM"

This is actually a funny subject and I just thought I'd invite everyone to join me in my random experiment.... Ask your #1 FAN who is "Them" LOL

JUST MY LITTLE TIDBIT OF ENCOURAGEMENT FOR THE WEEK..KEEP DOING YOU... MOST LIKELY IT WAS BEING GREAT IN THE FIRST PLACE. BTFO! LIVE LIFE!! &LOVE YALL!!!

WhOOps....

I DID'T MEAN TO DROP THAT : Now I know to pay more attention

oUcH!
THAT BURNT: Now I know not to play with fire

SORRY!
FOR BEING LATE: Now I know to leave the house earlier

Very Seldom, if ever do we choose to make our mistakes.... Accidents happen. However, with every accident comes a learning experience. Sometimes that MISTAKE... THAT ACCIDENT.... Is the greatest thing that could have ever happened to us. Because we learned from it, it prepared us us for what was to come and had an everlasting impact on our lives.

The mistake may have been a surprise to us, but God had a greater purpose for it the entire time.

If you life life afraid of mistakes, you will never live. Have a Blessed day everyone! Don't let today end without your impacting it in some fashion. You do have a purpose, whether you realize it or not.

Ok.. I'm done after this...

I can hear you being dramatic right now saying "Brandon you are doing the MOST!!!! Boy if you don't let me rest in peace.. I need my beauty rest.. Plus I gotta get up for work in the morning...lol"

But I remember hitting you up when you were at Seth's family reunion I think... I was in L.A and we shared these words:

I think the thing that hurts the most Is we were each others GREATEST motivators! We just knew we would be on that RED carpet together hosting somebody's awards show, walking past each other on that runway and taking up eachothers space on that blilboard.... Commercials.. All the stuff we used to talk about.

It's like You ALREADY HAD IT!!! people wee working to get to where you ALREADY WERE.. all it was was taking it the next step after graduation..

Maybe thats why God decided to go head and call you home. You were obedient, learned lessons the first time. You were full of faith, determination and used the talents God gave you. You were strong and allowed God to work through you for others...

You filled every check on the checklist that some people never do in a lifetime. Regardless of how hard the devil may have tried to discourage you.. You didn't let it happen.. and because of it... You can finally trash those Homecoming fashion show Angel wings and Strut your new ones... "Your Real Ones"

Love you so much.. and I promise.... I'ma try to stop making new postings about you filling up everybody's newsfeed real soon... This might be the last one.. for a while anyway...

Last thing.. You gon get me together..... I know you would be LIVID if you found out ur friends was moping around.. but That Football game tonight.... I'm so sorry I couldnt help it... As hard as I tried to make myself have fun or at least look like I was.... I couldn't do it... AND IMA HAVE YO GET YOU! TOGETHER. Because you got me in trouble.. Mrs. Mcnealy got on me for looking so down... So we will just box that one out when we see eachother again...lol

I talked to katie today @ the game.. and We decided that we are making a pact... Since all 3 of us were always talking about making it big... ME And KATIE are making this promise to you.. in remembrance of you.. WE ARE TAKING OVER HOLLYWOOD AND THE REST OF THE ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY.... If you could, throw in a good word to God for us.. maybe he will hook a brotha and sista up...lol sike we know he is already with us... But I PROMISE YOU COURT!!! When I get that FIRST award whether it's an OSCAR or whatever. Right after GOD and mom dukes you will Be the FIRST person I shout out and give credit to for being such an inspiration because I know I wouldn't have made it without you....

loveyou loveyou loveyou...

and now that I got all that out.. I think I can actually do something tonight I haven;t done all week... and thats SLEEP!

Hollywood Tag Team Forever... Love you

Approximately 24 hours ago.... I heard the news about a friendship that cant replaced, one tailored to us, one that didn't require a boasting and over exertion because we knew each others hearts.

It's 2:02 a.m., I can't sleep, tried to force myself to sleep at 11pm and I still ended up waking up. I've lost my share of loved ones and been to my share of funerals, but never in my life have I lost someone THIS close to me. It's definitely a different kind of empathy I have for anyone that has not only lost a loved one, but one they were actually close to.

When I got that call last night......... .............. .............. I don't even know what to say. This isn't a real... like stop playing.... Court I just saw you a week ago being your ole DRAMATIC self. You told me you were set to graduate and was gon get this show on the road! The one we've been talking about since we got close my sophomore year....

Regardless of how much I try not to think about it, I can hear your voice following me wherever I go. You were such a DRAMATIC and hand crafted/unique person I can predict your responses to almost anything...lol

I don't have to do nothing but match and I still can't win.. " Oh so you just think you tight huh...let me guess you just got it like that," " Don't let me have to get you together in front of all your lil fans" Typical greeting...lol or "Oh so you just gon try to play me???",

Right now I'm just longing to hear at least one of those words Court.... It's like we were always there for each other even if we hadn't spoken in a week. That one time when the devil, "Don't be bout dat life..lol" you could count on one of us to be there to push the other along the way. Just your mere presence would give me the strength to go about my day and would talk about you all the time. It's almost like you were a walking symbol of strength because the very second I would even think about complaining about my "small" problems. I'd think about you and all of your life obstacles you entrusted me with...

You always knew how "to get me together." While I'm complaining about stress from Homecoming Fashion show 2007, you were faithfully at every practice and dealing with the loss of your mother. It wasn't until after the show that you told me and I was like ARE YOU SERIOUS? I was so sorry and sympathetic but you didn't need my sympathy. Even though I knew you were hurting... you were already strong and knew how to work through your sorrow.

When I was crying broke, complaining about not having a car, and your PET PEEVE, what seemed to be my annual "Phone-less" month cuz my phone would always stay off from not having the money to pay the bill..... In the midst of all my complaining I would look at you: Working full time, going to school full time, involved at school anddd still managing "outside of FAMU life career wise". When I was phone-less, you were paying your new car note, phone bill, rent and Tuition ON YOUR OWN. One thing I can be grateful for is not having a list of "Shoulda Coulda Wouldas" wishing I had told you how much of an inspiration you were to me.... I can live in comfort knowing we had the kind of relationship where we talked about everything and knew how we felt about each other.

Facebook doesn't even have the capacity for me to write out all of our memories so some stuff I will just cherish as precious memories. However, I just want to thank God for placing you in my life. You could have been at any other place in the world inspiring someone else but you were here in "WACK TALLAHASSEE," as we would call it.. and inspiring people like me...

As hard as it is, i'm forcing myself to not just be a victim and realize that you served a greater purpose on this earth. You represented something so strong that I don't think people realized what they had amongst them. A fraction of the people you've impacted still couldn't live through the obstacles you've overcome. Thinking about all of your strength brought back a particular memory that I, didn't forget but, hadn't thought about in a while....

Valentines day 2008 when we went to the warehouse for that poetry night thing. "Secret Garden".. As we slow danced with that red light beaming over us, I asked you if you could be a fruit what would you be? (I always knew I could just be myself and play my random games with you without you judging me) You weren't at all hesitant .. You took a few seconds to think and asked me to go first so you could see where I was going with this...

I said, "I'd be a pineapple because they are rough, abrasive and misunderstood from the outside but if a hand could endure the rough exterior only to cut it, it would see the tender inside."

Followed by that smile of yours, your response was, "I'd be a grape because they are so sweet and small that if not handled cautiously with care, it could slip right through the cracks of fingers."

I knew right then, even more so, that you were a beautiful person internally with an amazing spirit. and of course Me being EXTRA I couldnt just stop with the Fruit.. so I said WHAT ANIMAL WOULD YOU BE," after listening to me you said...

"This isn't just because i'm dark skinned but i'd have to say Black Panther, because unlike other cat families, the Black Panther is a loaner and spends most of its time alone... Hunting and living alone in the trees, representing power, strength...."

and pretty much everything you really represented here on earth. I had almost forgotten that it was through you, that night, that I started that animal symbolism thing and have been using it to give my closest friends encouragement ever since.... That was you.. that night living through me even while you were here on earth. I remember you loved that RED light so much back at the warehouse so much and kept talking about it... We were having such a good time that we did that photoshoot that night with your red light

At this time even though it hurts like hell, I'm going to give saying goodbye it's first shot with:
Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. (Proverbs 3:5-6)

I may not understand things right now, but I know God has called you back to be closer to him because his angel has fulfilled her duties and purpose here on earth.... Your legacy will forever live and YOUR STRENGTH will always be remembered and will forever "GET ME TOGETHER" every time I think about complaining or quitting anything.. Because even at your lowest of low and roughest of rough times, you NEVER let earths problems get to you.. You are a Warrior, a Panther, an ANGEL and I will always remember and love you.....

Hollywood is a done deal, when I go and see them lil models trying over there i'ma be like ma DAWG Court would sHUT U DOWN so get tight!! & u know I still got you on dogsitting colby.. He will be ok don't worry....

"Potential Energy"

It is a new day..

According to midnight, Yesterday is the past.
Yesterday had old ways, mindsets and people.
Today presents a fresh start, a new beginning.

Granted yesterday was a good day,
Good is no longer good enough.
I'm walking toward greatness.

Forward I shall walk, with a smile on my face.
My peripheral glimpsing family and close friends.
My foresight simply reflecting faith and Gods will.

As I walk passing mountains I could climb,
pastures I could tend to, landfills I could clean,
souls I could save and hearts I could mend,

Flashbacks of physical science come to mind:
Potential energy is "stored energy" that can only be released by motion.
A ball has potential energy until it is bounced.

I have "potential energy" until God moves me.
There is a lot I could do, but without that confirmation
of Gods will, why waste Potential Energy?

LEADERS AND FOLLOWERS

Before one can lead, he must first follow. Not just follow but, observe the sights, sounds and smells to one day remember when he finally LEADS. If granted the opportunity to lead, he should never get "omnipotent" because the one TRUE leader will surely humble any and everyone that need a quick reminder of ""who's who"

WHICH IS WORST IN A BAD ECONOMY?

A year ago I told a friend I was doing summer school so I can ensure graduating on time SPR2010. Their response was I'm not ready for the real world& Why graduate in a recession, so I'm gonna hang around and get a couple of degrees... This fall alone tuition has increased 3 times since 2006 and grants are being cut/Budgets cut/Professors are being laid off. and many of my friends cant afford to stay. which is worst?

No biased perspective on this one just curious to hear your views.

OR

CYBERSPACE

Living in Cyberspace instead of the real world?

With all the new cool social networks like Facebook, Myspace,Youtube, twitter , ETC! A question I hear quite often is, "What would we do without the internet"?

Well.. The answer to that question is.. Without the internet, in order to see the world... One would have to explore it. I'm not going to bore you with another long note about escaping your past and making a better future... But What I will do is ask a simple question about the present that you can answer for yourselves...

Are you exploring the world? Or are you Googling it?

A "NIGGA" MOMENT

So... I KNOW I'M LATE... but I've fallen in love with the Boondocks this summer. Yes, it's a comedy but it is so much more than a comedy. Have you ever had someone blatantly disrespect you to your face? Imagine that feeling and what it does to you... Or Someone mocking you and your family... But you cant get mad because what they are saying is TRUE. It just makes you want to improve on yourself instead of picking a fight and proving them right... PLEASE WATCH THESE CLIPS.. AND RESPOND TO THE NOTE WITH YOUR FEELINGS ON THEM.

FACEBOOK SLAVERY!

So... In case yall couldn't tell yet.... I think A LOT! lol. I think a WHOLE lot. 24/7. Always looking at something, observing things, developing opinions just because... Thats how my mind works. I've been told at job interviews, in classes from teachers and even friends that I always have an interesting perspective on things. I would have to say I charge that to first off asking God to give me understanding for a lot of things. Secondly, I challenge myself to think. My close friends can tell you... we have some VERYYYY deep conversations all the time...lol (KB,Brittany, Pierce, MArsha, Craig, Iman, Gloria, Thomas, James, Gillum, Irene, BTFO! lol..... and many more). Most of the time it's a debate that I usually start..... what they don't know is I do it intentionally...lol I do it because I always enjoy seeing my fellow brothers and sisters using their mind.. developing their opinion... KAY-B always tell me.. "Y U ALWAYS STARTING STUFF!" lol she thinks I pick on her...lol but she has a beautiful mind that could be a powerful tool if used correctly.

Even if you disagree... I challenge everyone to just pick a side... any side and stick to it.. defend your point of view... on a movie, rumor, color, opinion.. anything...My prof. Gordon told me... Your brain is a muscle... The only way to make a muscle stronger is to use it... exercise it... TOOOO MUCH OF OUR FREE TIME IS GOING INTO THINGS NOT EXPANDING OUR MINDS.. I know people say We'll brandon how you gon talk? you on fb 24/7! YES, BUT I'M on here thinking.... observing.... reading.... writing..... Which led me to write this status this morning:

"THE MOST ENABLING THING FACEBOOK COULD DO FOR BLACK STUDENTS IS GIVE US THIS NEW "LIKE BUTTON" WE DONT HAVE TO EXPAND OUR MINDS OR EXPOUND. WE DON'T HAVE TO ARTICULATE OR EXPRESS HOW WE FEEL. WE SIMPLY... FEEL "SOME" TYPE OF WAY AND CLICK LIKE!!! USE YOUR GOD GIVEN MINDS.. THINK AND EXPRESS... IF FOR NO OTHER REASON.. JUST TO PRACTICE DEVELOPING OPINIONS FOR YOURSELF. U GONNA CLICK "LIKE" IN A JOB INTERVIEW?"

The "White man holding us back" talk is getting old. We have minds and opportunities just like they do. We just choose to be lazy. Lets not be VICTIMS anymore... lets start being proactive instead of re-active... PLAN AHEAD.... If the white man does have a leg up.. Then simply WORK HARDER! FUSE YOUR FUN WITH ACADEMIA. Be on FB or wherever.. but make sure you are learning as well. Nothing is wrong with the LIKE BUTTON but if you use it.. try to comment as well or at least develop an opinion of why you like it.

You will find in the real world when you are competing in the workforce... Employers interview probably 500 people a day. What made you different... WELL THAT ONE KID SAID SOME PRETTY INTERESTING STUFF THAT NO ONE ELSE WOULD HAVE THOUGHT OF... THEY DIDNT HAVE MUCH EXPERIENCE.. BUT I LIKE HOW THEIR MIND WORKS. THWY MIGHT BE ABLE TO HELP US CHANGE OUR COMPANY'S DIRECTION.

AS ALWAYS, LOVE YALL!

Inspire & Move On...

I learned a valuable lesson today. We all have flaws.. right? One of my biggest ones is wanting TOO... much for others. I've learned that in addition to wanting for others... There is also a time to SHUT UP... Step back.. Realize you've said enough and MOVE ON... Their first step is beyond my control. Given that, I'm not someone who always points the finger saying people need to get their lives together without ALSO growing and getting mine together as well... So thought I'd spit this FLAW of mine and share how I made this personal experience... a LEARNING LESSON

To generalize my experience into a form that anyone can apply to their own lives..(Thats if they want to.. I'm not forcing ya) :

INSPIRE AND MOVE ON.... THE FIRST STEP IS WANTING FOR YOURSELF. CAN'T FORCE BLESSINGS ON ANYONE. AS I PROGRESS ON MY PERSONAL JOURNEY.. I ALLOW TIME FOR "PERSONAL GROWTH". NOT JUST FOR MY FUTURE BUT TO INSPIRE(NOT PUSH) OTHERS ALONG THE WAY. IT'S UP TO OTHERS TO TRANSFORM INSPIRATION INTO ACTION... HAVE A BLESSED DAY EVERYBODY.

Cocoon..

Life awaiting to bloom. Life bursting with talent, potential, prosperity... However, again.. it is waiting to bloom... All of this greatness is confined inside of a thin layer of silk, spun by the caterpillar, a covenant....
A caterpillar has a few different stages of life.. All from which it gains new/different/fresh perceptions on life.

Starting off as an egg. it is completely innocent and pure. When it hatches it transforms into a caterpillar... still innocent but extremely inquisitive and curious. That can be a good and bad thing. It's great to want to learn and explore. but in the midst, sometimes it finds its way in not so good predicaments...

Once it has seen that everything in the world isn't so welcoming, everything isn't as it seems, everything that glitters aint gold... It begins to get more apprehensive about life decisions... Less trusting than the care-free spirit it once was... Once it's made so many mistakes to the point where it's afraid to make any decisions at all.. out of fear of making more... It withdraws from the world.... finding a safe, secluded spot and just rests.. meditates.... clears it's mind and before it realizes that it was once feeling pain beyond this world... It has transformed into a Cocoon. At the cocoon stage... The now fearful, timid and less trusting caterpillar is purified of any wrongdoings, mistakes, sins, or whatever it may have gone through.... IT no longer has the distractions of the world which allows it to tune into senses and signals it would have never paid attention.. It's mind develops and it transforms the traumatizing experiences from its 1st phase of life... into WISDOM.

It no longer blames the world for being the way it is.. It simply gains the knowledge on how to maneuver in it.

When it hatches out of its cocoon.... It is a brand new specimen.. Wings that allow it to fly over the life it once had to pull itself through. Even though it is now a beautifully, highly respected "butterfly" it has kept the same heart the entire process.. remembering it's journey... Wanting to help others with theirs and preparing to give life to the next batch of baby eggs.. Who will hatch and learn the ways of the world on their own.

WHO'S READY FOR THE PATTI LABELLE MOVIE?

RECENTLY FANTASIA DID A TRIBUTE TO PATTI PABELLE SINGING,"SOMEBODY LOVES YOU BABY," AND MURDERED IT.... I THINK SHE'S THE CHOSEN ONE TO MAKE THE MOVIE HAPPEN SUCCESSFULLY. CHECK IT OUT
PATTI LABELLE IS 64 YEARS OLD AND NOT PLANNING ON STOPPING ANYTIME SOON.. I THINK IT IS TIME SHE COME OUT WITH A MOVIE OF HER LIFE... FROM THE LITTLE GIRL FROM PHILLY... TO THE DRAMA WITH THE BLUE BELLS VS. THE SUPREMES... TO THE SOLO-ARTIST AND PATTI LABELLE WE KNOW TODAY...

DON'T WAIT TILL IT'S TOO LATE... HONOR THEM NOW!

IT BOTHERED ME TO THINK ABOUT HOW MANY OF MY FAVORITE ARTIST HAVE PASSED... I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE AN ABSOLUTLY AMAZING IDEA OF HAVING AN HBO SPECIAL/ CONCERT OF ALL THE LIVING LEGENDS 2 PERFORM THEIR BEST HITS AND SOME COMPILATIONS... THE DREAM TEAM WOULD BE: PATTI LABELLE, JENNIFER HOLIDAY, GLADYS KNIGHT, TINA TURNER, ARETHA FRANKLIN, CHAKA KHAN, WHITNEY HOUSTON AND MARY J. BLIGE- STEVIE WONDER, AL GREEN, EWF AND TRIBUTES TO LUTHER VANDROSS, BARRY WHITE, JAMES BROWN, DONNIE HATHAWAY AND MICHAEL JACKSON!

The Divine or, "Divided Nine"?

As incoming freshman coming from all walks of life and now being centralized in a totally new environment. We young adults are beyond excited about this new "COLLEGE LIFE" we have been hearing about since we were kids. Before we can even lay our big toe on the dorm lot pavement, we are bombarded by slues of complete strangers offering to help move into our dormitories.

Coming from a small town like Boise, Idaho all I see is a group of friendly people who decided they wanted to have twin day. They move me in, promise my parents they will look our for me... One of them gives me their phone number and says, "hit me up if you need anything. I know how it is as an incoming freshman."

The next day comes around and the school has all of these fun-filled events planned for us. I see my friend that helped me move in. Im so excited to finally see someone I know. They are on stage talking in the microphone and appears to be very well liked. At the end of the event I wanted to go and say hi but before I could get to them, the DJ played this song my grandma used to always listen to, and my friend and a bunch of people start doing this weird dance. I don't know what it is but it looks kind of cool.

I see my friend afterwards, they invite me to come hang with them and i'm surrounded by what appears to be another class color day or something? Everyone is wearing those colors again with ABC's across their chest.

As the year goes by I'm finally meeting some new friends. Classes are going good and I seem to be settling in quite well. One of my friends tells me what those ABC's mean and apparently it's some sort of Fraternity/Sorority. All I know is all of my friends are geeked up about them and get awkwardly excited every time they come around. I don't see whats so exciting...

The next time I see my friend who helped me move In... I ask them "whats your organization mean?" They said, scholarship and some other stuff. IT went in one ear and out the other. It just looked cool to me so I just said I wanted to be in it... Thats one of my favorite colors anyway.

I told my group of friends what I did and all of a sudden they started looking at me different. By the time christmas break came.. We weren't even friends......

NOW THAT STORY TIME IS OVER LADIES AND GENTLEMEN. AFTER MY OWN OBSERVATIONS AND HEARING A LOT OF DIFFERENT STAND POINTS ON THE ISSUE. BEFORE I PUT MY TWO CENTS IN... I WANTED TO MAKE SURE I WAS WELL INFORMED BEFORE I JUST MEDDLED AROUND ON SUCH A TOUCHY TOPIC. I LOOKED UP THE BOOK TITLED, "THE DIVINE NINE: THE HISTORY OF AFRICAN AMERICAN FRATERNITIES AND SORORITIES," AND IT SAID:

The achievements of the nine national Pan-Hellenic organizations and their individual members are astounding when you consider the total history of oppressed Africans in America. To have created the African American organizations that stressed education, philanthropy, self-improvement, and excellence, and to have them successfully strive to this date, is a testament not only to the members of their organizations, but also to their respective founders."

"There is a reason that the Divine Nine organizations and their members are successful. They consistently step up into the arena in order to make the best effort for their community. The fraternity or sorority is more than the wearing of letters, or singing the hymns. IT is the collective realization that the unit is stronger than the individual, but that the achievements of the individual greatly enriches the unit. In this way, scholarship funds may be raised, mentorship programs implemented, and lives affected favorably. This is the overall purpose of the Divine Nine," Ross, Jr., "

I do realize the subject is a sensitive one.. However, year after year I've seen upperclassmen, my own classmates, and now underclassmen doing the same thing year after year. It is a cycle that is unfortunate but doesn't have to be.

THIS IS NOT ONE OF THOSE GREEK BASHING ARTICLES. I HAVE NOTHING AGAINST THE "PURPOSE" OF THE DIVINE NINE ORGANIZATIONS. The question that arises in my mind though is.... in some form or fashion have they strayed away from their purpose. According to the book it said,"The fraternity or sorority is more than the wearing of letters, or singing the hymns. IT is the collective realization that the unit is stronger than the individual, but that the achievements of the individual greatly enriches the unit. I'm not sure if that unit is referring to the sub-units of each individual organization. But I believe it's talking about them collectively as a whole.

With everything going on in the world: THE WAR ON TERROR, THE AIDS EPIDEMIC, POVERTY STRICKEN COMMUNITIES, VIOLENCE, INADEQUATE PUBLIC SCHOOLS, DECREASING GRADUATION RATES...ETC. Arguing with someone else because they have a different color or letters than you is miniscule.

Turning a back to someone that was once offered a helping hand because they no longer want to be in your organization.. or subjecting someone to humiliation because they expressed to multiple organizations might not be their fault...

After all who can deny the exciting sites, sounds and even smells of Greek life... Their first day being 2,000 miles from home, under-educated on the topic. Maybe had that same student from Idaho been presented with information or advice to research at the same time as basking in the "oo0Ohhh's" and" aaaAAaaahhh's"/ Glits and glam. They might not have : lost their childhood friend, had to transfer from humiliation, sacrificed studies/grades or taken 6 years to complete a 4-year-degree.

All I'm saying is... The Whole is greater than the sum of it's parts. These incoming freshman look up to leadership/greek life and will mock our every move. So let's all lead them in a positive direction.

SO YOU REALLY WISH BLACKS WOULD GO BACK TO AFRICA EH?

LIFE WITHOUT BLACK PEOPLE

A very humorous and revealing story is told about a group of
white people  who were fed up with African Americans, so they
 joined together and wishedthemselves away.

They passed through a deep dark tunnel and emerged in sort of
a twilight  zone where there is an America without black people.

At first these white people breathed a sigh of  relief.
At last, they said, No more crime, drugs, violence and welfare.

All of the blacks have gone! Then suddenly, reality set in. The
"NEW AMERICA" is not Americaat all-only a barren land.

 1. There are very few crops that have flourished because
the nation was built on a slave-supported system.

 2. There are no cities with tall skyscrapers because Alexander Mils,
a black man, invented the elevator, and without it, one finds great
difficulty reaching higher floors.

3. There are few if any cars because Richard Spikes, a black man,
invented the automatic gearshift, Joseph Gambol, also black, invented
the Super Charge System for Internal Combustion Engines, and Garrett
A. Morgan, a black man, invented the traffic signals.

4. Furthermore, one could not use the rapid transit system because
its procurer was the electric trolley, which was invented by another black man, Albert R. Robinson.

 5. Even if there were streets on which cars and a rapid transit system
could operate, they were cluttered with paper because an African
American, CharlesBrooks, invented the street sweeper.

6. There were few if any newspapers, magazines and  books because
John Love invented the pencil sharpener, William Purveys invented
the fountain pen, and LeeBarrage invented the TypeWriting Machine
and W.A. Love invented the AdvancedPrinting Press.
They were all,  you guessed it, Black.

7. Even if Americans could write their letters, articles and books, they
would not have been transported by mail because William Barry invented
the Postmarking and Canceling Machine, William Purveys invented the
Hand Stamp and Philip Downing invented the Letter Drop.

 8. The lawns were brown and wilted because Joseph Smith invented the
Lawn Sprinkler and John Burr the Lawn Mower.
9. When they entered their homes, they found them to be poorly ventilated
and poorly heated. You see, Frederick Jones invented
the Air Conditioner and AliceParker the HeatingFurnace. Their homes were
also dim. But of course, LewisLattimer later invented the Electric
Lamp, Michael Harvey invented the lantern and Granville T. Woods invented
the Automatic Cut off Switch. Their homes were also filthy because Thomas W.
Steward invented the Mop &Lloyd P. Ray the DustPan.

10. Their children met them at the door-barefooted,shabby, motley and
unkempt. But what could one expect? Jan E.
Matzelinger invented the Shoe Lasting Machine, Walter Sammons! invented the Comb, Sarah
Boone invented the Ironing Board and George T. Samon invented the Clothes Dryer.

Finally, they were resigned to at least have dinner amidst all of this
turmoil. But here again, the food had spoiled because another Black Man,
 John Standard invented the refrigerator.

Now, isn't that something? What would this country
be like without the contributions of Blacks, as African-Americans?

Martin Luther King, Jr. said, "by the time we leave
for work, Americans have depended on the inventions from the minds of
Blacks."

Black history includes more than just slavery,
 Frederick Douglass,
Martin Luther King, Jr., Malcolm X, and Marcus
 Garvey & W.E.B. Dubois.

BARBIE DOLL: BY MARGIE PIERCY

BARBIE DOLL: BY MARGE PIERCY

"This girlchild was born as usual and presented dolls that did pee-pee and minature GE stoves and irons and wee lipsticks the color of cherry candy. then in the magic of puberty, a classmate said you have a great big nose and fat legs."

"She was healhy, tested intelligent, posessed strong arms and back, abundant sexual drive and manual dexterity. She went to and fro apologizing.
Everyone saw a fat nose on thick legs."

She was advised to play coy, exhorted to come on hearty, exercise, diet, smile and wheedle. Her good nature wore out like a fan belt."

"So she cut off her nose and her legs and offered them up.
In the casket she lay with the undertaker's cosmetics painted on,
a turned-up puty nose, dressd in a pink and white nightie."

Doesnt she look pretty? everyone said.

Consumption at last.
To every woman a happy ending."

TODAY WAS A HISTORIC DAY... EVERYONE FROM THE HAPPIEST OF CHILDREN TO SOILDIERS OVERSEAS FACE TO FACE IN BATTLE, WERE STOPPED DEAD IN THEIR TRACKS TO PAY THEIR RESPECTS TO MICHAEL JACKSON. AS I WAS WATCHING HIS MEMORIAL WITH MY MOM AND COUSIN... 2 THINGS HIT ME..... IT WAS AN ENDING ON MICHAEL'S SONG, "WILL YOU BE THERE". THIS ENDING HAS BEEN ON THE SONG SINCE THE DANGEROUS ALBUM WAS RELEASED YEARS AGO... BUT WHY DO WE ALWAYS WAIT TILL SOMEONE DIES TO PAY THEM ANY ATTENTION? THE SECOND THING THAT HIT ME WAS REV. AL SHARPTONS PROFOUND STATEMENT.

THE ENDING OF THE SONG SAID,
" In Our Darkest Hour
In My Deepest Despair
Will You Still Care?
Will You Be There?
In My Trials
And My Tripulations
Through Our Doubts
And Frustrations
In My Violence
In My Turbulence
Through My Fear
And My Confessions
In My Anguish And My Pain
Through My Joy And My Sorrow
In The Promise Of Another Tomorrow
I'll Never Let You Part
For You're Always In My Heart."

Now how many of us can say that..... especially about the ones that hurt us the most... HE DID.....Looking back on old MJ performances... all he had to do was step out and people that paid $100+ to see him would pass out. fainting simply from his presence.. THATS POWER.. there was def! something different about him and he was truly anointed.

I wrote this status after watching the memorial... and it stirred up a little controversy .. maybe i have a tendency to think toooo deeply about things.. and I know religion is a VERY touchy subject. especially since I'm so open about mine... but even with that... i think in general people divide themselves to much whether it be social/income class, hood/neighborhood, and especially religion... Especially when the things we argue and divide ourselves over are surface things... Petty literal things versus understanding concepts...The main idea....check out the status & responses

"SO.. THROUGH GOD MICHAEL WROTE, "HEAL THE WORLD," A DECADE AGO... SINCE THEN THE WORLD HAS GONE DOWNHILL AND BECAUSE THE WORLD DIDNT LEARN THE LESSON... GOD HAD 2 RE-TEACH IT ONLY THIS TIME HE MADE IT TOUGHER.. AND THE ONLY WAY TO GET EVERYONE TOGETHER 2 LISTEN.. WAS 2 TAKE MJ AWAY.. LEARN 2 LOVE EACH OTHER YALL. OR GOD WILL TEACH US AGAIN. ONLY NEXT TIME IT WILL BE WORST"

how could u say that god could do somethin so terrible as kill a person??

Brandon McCaskill at 3:45pm July 7
sacrifice.. not kill. why did he allow jesus 2 die?

Dainelle Immaculate Riley at 3:45pm July 7
very good point bmac..

Jaslyn Adams at 3:47pm July 7
nice way of looking on his death :) and u brought up a good point

Melanie E. Swain at 3:47pm July 7
U better say it Brandon!

@LouisVutton God called Michael home. The power of life and death is in God's hands.

LouisVutton Duchess at 3:49pm July 7
MICHEAL JACKSON dont EVEN compare 2 JESUS!!

LouisVutton Duchess at 3:50pm July 7
God didnt call him home, unforeseen circumstances befall us all. Imperfection is the reason we die and that is y jesus cam to die for us so that one day we wont have to worry about imperfection.

Jaslyn Adams at 3:51pm July 7
@louisVutton u right, mj is nowhere near the level of Jesus, but Brandon still made a good point, God will use different ways 2 make people see things. This may have been His way of reminding the world of how far off we've gone from Him

Brandon McCaskill at 3:51pm July 7
he sure doesn't compare. its a concept sweetheart. the bible is a book of stories, concepts that we can apply to our own lives.

Lena Geffrard at 3:56pm July 7
Ur right....He was a gift and a blessing. He was sending the Lord's message through his music & instead he was taken for granted. Unfortunately, we needed a wake up call!!!!

Melanie E. Swain at 3:56pm July 7
@ LouisVutton We all interpret things in different ways. IMO, unforeseen circumstances only exist in the minds of humans...for nothing is unforeseen to my omnipotent God. He knew exactly what He was doing...and again...He holds the power of life and death in His hands.

here we go LouisVutton- Jesus was a teacher and so was Michael, Michael was man and so was Jesus, they both did there parts, but this is about MJ, let him rest, no comparison, only praise

I DIDN'T POST THIS TO EMBARRASS ANYONE OR TO START DRAMA...WITH ANYONE.. HOWEVER, IT SHOWED HOW QUICKLY "WHOLES" CAN SPLIT. I WAN'T TO SAY TO ANY AND EVERYONE READING THIS..... BEFORE YOU SAY ANYTHING... THINK ABOUT THE STATE AMERICA WAS IN THE DAY BEFORE MICHAEL PASSED...... NOW THINK ABOUT TODAY, WATCHING THE MEMORIAL AND SEEING PEOPLE FROM ALL WALKS OF LIFE COME TOGETHER TO MOURN.... WE HAVENT DONE THIS SINCE 9/11. THERE WAS STILL HATERS WHEN OBAMA WON PRESIDENT... BUT UNFORTUNATELY THE ONLY WAY WE CAN SHUT DOWN AS A WHOLE AND SHUT UP!!!! AND LISTEN IS WHEN SOMEONE DIES......

WE GOTTA DO BETTER (this goes for me too i'm not pointing any fingers and not taking my own advice)

I'll end this with a very powerful statement Rev. Al Sharpton said. he said:

"Nothings strange with your daddy, it was strange what he had to deal with."

People are quick to ridicule someone but NOBODY.. i mean NOBODY.. knows what he had to go through, so you can't judge him and who knows... If you were in his shoes you might not have lasted as long as HE did because he was STRONG.

R.I.P Michael Jackson and.. From those that loved you the most... to those that brought you down the most. You have impacted the lives of us all... and your life was not in vain, your PURPOSE HAS BEEN FULFILLED.

-I just hope everyone realizes that and takes the deep lyrics in his songs that people never thought to pay attention to.... dude was deep.
